The Element Four Watermill – The Future Is Smiling

element-four-watermillIt’s time to stare water purification right in its cute robotic face.  Element Four has come up with the solution to water shortages worldwide with its Watermill.  It may look like a set of speakers, but in reality it is an elegant piece of technology which can save you money while you’re helping to save the world.

The Watermill extracts water from humid air and, through ultraviolet sterilization, is capable of turning it into a potable beverage that is actually cleaner than spring water.  It is extremely unobtrusive, or at least you can be sure you won’t notice it when you’re sitting down in your living room, because it is designed to be mounted on the outside of your house.  According to Element Four the inside of your home is 70% more polluted than the outside air, and the UV sterilization can handle the smog of city life without issue.  If you ever suffered from breathing the dry air your old dehumidifier left behind, this is probably a plus.

Element Four designed the Watermill to minimize power consumption.  It automatically checks the dew point every three minutes and makes sure to operate consistently just below it, which is a large part of why it can extract a liter of water from the air for about three cents.  It can also hook up to your existing water sources like your fridge dispenser or kitchen sink if you want it to, or else you can use special Element Four Watermill distribution sources.  Put these two features together and you should have drinking water available throughout your house just as you did before, except at a tiny fraction of the cost.  If you’re worried about volume, the 12 liters (3.2 gallons) of water which the Windmill can extract daily should amply sate a family of six.

The Element Four Windmill is a way to be green and save green, as you will be reducing waste from plastic bottles or jugs as well as reducing your water bill.  In mid 2009 a wind/solar powered version should become available to make it even greener, but for now it’ll run off the grid.  It will be available for sale beginning in February, and Element Four has big plans for this device.  We can’t wait to see it become widely used in the future.

Fog-Free Shower Mirror

Fog-Free Lighted Shower MirrorHow is it that I never knew about this? I always wanted this! A mirror for the shower, well it’s been made by Sharper Image: the Fog-Free Shower Mirror. It even comes with a light (well, it never can be bright enough in there!)! There’s also a Deluxe Mirror that attaches to a shower head with a 3x magnifying mirror on the opposite side.

What kind of ticks me off is that this product is only manufactured and marketed to men for shaving their faces. Do I need to tell you that women would love this product, too?! I’d use it for things like checking out my acne … and … just for looking at myself! If a mirror is not a girl’s product, well what is?!

I even made this mock-up of “me” “checking myself out” with this product.

The New Scale for Dieters: in the Kitchen

The Nutri-Weight Dietary Computer Scale is said to calculate (by weighing?) these aspects of a food’s nutrition:

    Salter Nutri-Weigh Dietary Computer Scale

  1. Calories
  2. Protein
  3. Carbohydrates
  4. Total Sugars
  5. Total fat
  6. Fiber
  7. Sodium
  8. Cholesterol
  9. Net Carbohydrates
  10. GI Value

I don’t know how it does it, but that would actually be perfect for all dieters and weight-watchers out there. Imagine the possibilities, a woman can “weigh” her take-out (never know with restaurants!) against the delicious factor and all of the important health factors. It also “allows you to record daily food intake and set dietary goals, then review progress.” If it works, it could truly help dieters everywhere.

At $119.99, it could help save America!
